Obviously being able to sustain yourself financially is one component to happiness, however the bigger part of the equation is the genuine relationships you surround yourself with. Authentic connections with family and friends become a higher level of priority as one matures!!

never giving up on oneself and learning lessons from failures as much or more than accomplishments
My definition of success has changed over time.
As a young person/adult, I thought success was measured by achievements and milestones (eg. getting a degree, securing a job, owning property, getting married, and having children). Life taught me it's not about the what that made my life fulfilling, but the who and why. The relationships and personal connections (fleeting as well as enduring) that I made helped shaped the way I viewed as well as moved in the world. Learning to savor and value the experience of my journey than impatiently focused on reaching my destination.
To me, being successful means...
Being true to yourself. Following your dreams. Finding what makes you happy. Being comfortable with your place in life.

Not really. I always wanted to make my way. I never really bought into all of society's ideas of who or what I should be.
To me, being successful means...
Happiness, finding your place in society, knowing who you are and what you want for your own life.

I thought success was money (income).
To me, being successful means...
Being to take care of my needs and help out with the needs of those I love. To be able to be meaningful work that uses my unique brain and skills. To be loved and valued by family, friends and clients.
My definition of success has changed over time.
I was more focussed on my achievements, and my immediate family, and less on my extended web of relationships

To me, being successful means...
Making enough money to live comfortably and have a little left over. Having a career where I'm enjoying what I'm doing, but also having a great family life.

I hadn't a clue how many times I would fall face down and get up again. Sometimes success meant money, sometimes little or big fame, sometimes it meant getting up after feeling near spiritual, mental, or physical exhaustion.
To me, being successful means...
Feeling contentment in ones life. Having balance with all aspects of life; work, friends, family, and play.
My definition of success has not changed over time.
I didn't really think much about my specific definition of success until this survey. Contentment drives me but I don't know if it always did.
